CommonBond Communities is seeking qualified applicants to apply for the Housing Stability Coordinator position at our four family housing communities in Des Moines, IA, totaling 100 apartments within walking distance. This position is full-time Monday-Friday (40 hours a week), with regular hours, plus some evenings and weekends throughout the year for community events.

The primary responsibility of the Advantage Service Coordinator is to provide resources, advocacy, crisis intervention, and supportive services to residents, as well as plan, coordinate, and evaluate programs designed to support resident housing stability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, promote, manage, and document the delivery of resident-centered programs and services with a focus on housing stability.
  • Work collaboratively with property managers to provide lease education and support residents in overcoming challenges to lease compliance.
  • Support resident associations, resident-led activities, and leadership development by providing technical and resource support. Develop collaborative community relationships to support resident housing stability.
  • Oversee site budget, prepare and document client case notes on a weekly basis, develop and distribute monthly resident communication.
  • Promotes positive relationships within the community and surrounding neighborhood.
  • Provides empowerment and encouragement that executes resident leadership.
  • Aids residents to plan and execute existing community building activities.
  • Oversee onsite volunteer
  • Coordinates publication of monthly newsletter

Team Participation

  • Actively participates in Advantage Services Iowa team meetings and promotes collaborative problem solving and professional development.
  • Works collaboratively with property management staff and other departments of CommonBond Communities.

Minimal Qualifications

  1. Associate or bachelor's degree in related field or at least three years of experience in a related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, gender, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages.
  3. Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment with both internal and external partners.
  4. Experience using MS Office 365 and other software programs.
  5. Be certified in CPR and First Aid or can become certified within six months of starting position.
  6. Demonstrated training and experience and working knowledge of local services and referral processes for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with employment assistance, homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, chemical dependency and disabilities.
  2. Have direct experience working with elderly people or persons with disabilities.
  3. Training in cultural competency and/or bilingual skills.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  3. Ability to file documents.
  4. Ability to enter data into a computer.
  5. Ability to interact verbally with internal and external audiences.
