Commerce Editor, Travel+ Leisure

Dotdash Meredith is looking for a highly motivated and digitally savvy, full-time Commerce Editor to join the news/deals travel vertical, working on Travel + Leisure. This role will be responsible for editing copy from on-staff members and freelance contributors, supporting the senior editor with onboarding and managing freelancer relationships, managing promotions of News & Deals commerce content across social platforms, and working with our writer on content promotions in our T+L Recommends newsletter. The editor's primary goal will be to work with editors and writers to meet our weekly and monthly production goals, ensure workflows are as efficient as possible, and work on tentpole shopping events, such as Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and more.

The editor should have past editing and commerce experience, have a rolodex of freelancers, be a creative problem solver, and work quickly to pivot and propose potential solutions to create the best commerce content. The editor will track performance and analyze and implement ways to improve monetization over time. This role will need to work in the Dotdash Meredith CMS, as well as on Airtable, Slack, Google Suites, SEMrush, Parsley, and Looker.

The Commerce Editor reports to the Director of Travel Commerce on the news/deals team and works with T+L's Evergreen commerce team and Dotdash Meredith's growth/SEO team and strategy team. You'll be expected to follow guidelines for updates, brand voice, and standards, as well as ensure our news/deals commerce content is accurate, inclusive, comprehensive, and accessible to all readers.

About Your Contributions:

  • Assign, edit, and publish stories with help from a dedicated team of full-time editors & writers

  • Work with the Senior Editor and Director to manage an editorial calendar and track assignments, ensuring articles are moving along in a timely manner, while also identifying stories and needs based on seasonality, trends, celebrity finds, best-sellers, product reviews, and more

  • Support the Senior Editor in managing freelance writer relationships, which includes onboarding freelancers, fielding pitches, assigning stories, editing content, and handling invoices

  • Prioritize day-to-day needs alongside short-term, special projects and support your team's goals, while also taking into account organizational priorities and changes

  • Collaborate with and manage expectations of the commerce, editorial, growth, testing and research, and social teams

  • Attend weekly commerce meetings

  • Be available to work during large shopping events, such as Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc.

About You:

  • 3-5 years of editing experience at an online publisher, ideally in the travel and commerce space

  • Experience with SEO best practices and tools and how it relates to content

  • Strong project management skills, including proficiency in management tools like Google Suite and Airtable

  • A deep knowledge of, passion for, and understanding of the shopping and travel industry, as well as lifestyle products and content

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to see the big picture and work seamlessly across multiple beats daily

  • A self-starter who can pivot seamlessly as new initiatives and directives are identified and adjusts processes accordingly

  • Personal interest in online shopping and strong product research skills

  • Open to new challenges and excited to grow within a fast-paced, expanding, and constantly evolving organization

  • CMS experience required

  • Bachelor's degree of equivalent experience required

Pay Range

Salary: $62,400 - $82,700

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees.
